MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT

The difference between this marriage announcement and the actual marriage record is that the church required a minimum three week period between the announcement and the marriage. This was to allow time for the church to ensure the couple could be married under the rules of the time. They investigated to make sure the couple were not married to someone else and that their blood line was not to close. The proposed marriage was announced each Sunday service for three weeks giving time for the public to weigh in on the subject.
