Sharkey (1870 - 1958) Charles Sharkey (1876 - 1920) Frank John Sharkey (1885 - 1971) Sibling: Alphonsine Therien (Taylor) Sharkey (1836 - 1860) Edgemere Taylor Sharkey (1845 - 1919) Family Data: Mrs. John Sharkey an aged and well known resident of this place passed away at her home on River Street on Monday April 21st at 12:10 p.m. following an illness of several weeks. Edmire Taylor daughter of Jeddi and Genevieve Taylor was a native of Canada, and was born near Montreal October 31st 1845 and came with her parents to Illinois in the year 1848 and settled near Momence, which place has since been her home excepting eleven years residence in Kansas. On July 20th she was united in marriage with John Sharkey at Kankakee, Ill. and to this union several children were born. Those surviving her are: Joseph, Charles, Lewis, Samuel and Frank and two step-children, Placid of this place and Mrs. I.P. Roy of Wakita, Oklahoma who together with the aged husband and father mourn a kind and indulgent wife and mother. A son Levi Sharkey preceded her in death August 16th 1913. About twenty years ago she united with the Baptist church of this city and lived a consistent christian life to the end. She possessed many good traits of character and embraced a supreme faith. Mrs. Sharkey was the last of a family of five children three brothers and one sister preceding her in death. Funeral services were held from her late ... (blurred, can't read) o'clock conducted by Rev. Donnelley and were attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful silent testimonials of the esteem in which the deceased was held by her friends. Interment took place at Mt. Ary cemetery. Those who attended the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Moses Sharkey, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sharkey, Mr. and Mrs. William Castougus and little son of Kankakee. The six sons of the deceased served as pall bearers.
