Matthias Riendeau, Postal Telegraph messenger in Fall River, MA
From the library of Congress. A photo by Lewis Wickes Hine. Found this photo when I searched using my Grandfather's address of 823 Grinnel St., Fall River, MA. Matthia's last name Riendeau is spelled Rindan, Rindan being a common derivative of Riendeau. I recognized him the minute I saw this photo. He is the boy with his hand on the MESSENGER sign. I have a pic of the bike he used, as a messenger, as well. Although until this photo, I had no idea he worked as a messenger.
