The Guertins: A Love Story
Mabel Riendeau and Vital J "Peter" Guertin courted for a while and sent many cards and letters to each other. This correspondence, along with letters from family members, tell the tale of a wonderful love story from courtship, church visits which served as dates, then marriage. They had two children Norman and Gerald. Then immediately after their third son was born, both Mabel and the baby died. The boys went to live with Mabel's sister and brothers. Sister Metelrise Riendeau was the primary surrogate mother in the boy's lives. Mr. Guertin went on and eventually remarried. I have many photos and letters belonging to this branch of the family. if anyone out there is a member of the Riendeau or Guertin family, write me. I would love to give what I have to you to pass along. Digital copies are enough for me and this branch is not blood related as George Riendeau (Mabel's brother) was my step-grandfather
